H-BR school board okays athletic policyHINCKLEY-BIG ROCK School board members approved an athletic policy for students in grades five through eight at a recent board meeting.The grade school coaches and principals have worked out a districtwide policy to govern eligibility standards for those students participating in athletics.Several resignations have been accepted by the board and new replacements made.Susan Hanson will replace Susan Brostoff as the fourth grade teacher at the Hinckley Elementary School. Ms. Hanson is under contract for the firstsemester while Ms. Brostoff is on maternity leave.John Alumbaugh asked to be relieved of his duties as assistant high school track coach. Michael Elwart, high school math and physical education teacher, was approved to take Alumbaugh’s position.Board members aiso approved supervisors for the high school prom. They are Ann Whitacre and SandraClay.Tern Lundeen, library aide at the Big Rock Elementary School, will be leaving the school district Monday. Carolyn Leifheit was transferred fromthe high school library- to fill this PositionIn other business the board heard a curriculum report by high school principal Roland Thompson and monthly reports by elementary school principals Roy Dittmann and Herman Lange.The board also met in executive session to discuss the validity of acomplaint against an employe. No action was taken by board members.I he next school board meeting willbe at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13, at the high school.Contract awardedLELAND Bids for a 60-passenger school bus for the school district were opened and contracts awarded by board members Wednesday. I he contract for the bus body was awarded to E. M. Bailey and Sons, Inc., Pontiac, for a total of $3,085. The bid included a $4,025 trade-in allowance for a 1971Chevrolet bus.The chasts contract went to Coffman Brothers Truck Center, Aurora, for $8,779. !
