Mrs. W.H.Chapman Shakespeare Gass |»Hostess For Nov.The Shakespeare Class met In November at the home of Mrs. W. H. Chapman on Church Street with the President. Mrs. J. Craig Nelson, presiding, and with The Tragedy of King Lear, as the subject for study.On November 4th, the minutes read by the Secretary, Mrs. Geogre P. Whitley Jr. and the first act of ‘King Lear was presented ^ by Mrs. J, M. Chapman and Mrs. W. H. Sykes Jr.; on following Thursday afternoons the second act was read by Mrs. P. G. Berryman and Mrs. George P .Whitley Jr. and the third act by Mrs. C. E. Davis, Mrs. E. H. Williams and Mrs W. C. Whitehead. Each of the readings was followed by quotations, questions and much animated discussion of the action and characters developed in this great tragedy.On November 11th at the request of the President, Mrs. A. E. 3. Stephens gave the Class a delightfully interesting account of the luncheon that she and the Lieutenant Governor attended at the Governor’s mansion on November 10th, honoring the Queen Mother. Elizabeth, The Class, having for many years devoted uiucn study to Shakespeare’s accounts of British Royalty, felt an especial pleasure in having one of Its members meet and converse with the Queen Mother. Mrs. Row-1I and Mrs, Whitley also told of attending spe__l services at Bruton Parish church when the £ueen Mother offered her Armistice Day Prayers.,Following the program on November 18th as is the custom of the Class at the last meeting in ach month, an informal social hour was enjoyed and Mrs. Chapman served most delicious' refreshments.No meeting will be held on Thanksgiving Day, and the Class will meet in December at the home of Mrs. George F, WhitleyJr. .
