Chess Playiko Extraordinary.— Thursday afternoon last a very interest-; ing affair came off at ihe Dubuque Chess j Club lbom9. Mr. Louis Paulsen, together with a number of his brother J members, among them the best chess players of our city, met to give another exhibition of his powers at blindfold playing, in a more wonderful degree than he had ever yet done. The men were placed upon fifteen b *nrds, and antagonists appointed to each, .and in one instance two at a board, when he undertook the task of playing fifteen simultaneous games. The playing commenced at 2, and with the interval of tea, con tin-: I ued until 10 o’clock. In (his time some twenty-five moves were made, and in every instance but one, which might probably have proved a draw, he had the advantage, which, if the games had been concluded, would have given him the victory. This is the greatest feat in chess ; playing known, being a greater number by seven than the renowned Morphy has yet succeeded in playing, and n greater number probably than he w ill ever reach.Since the Chess Congress held in New York city, at which Mr. Paulsen relied entirely on his own genius, Mr. P. Las been engaged in studying the games of the great masters, and we opine, should Mr. Morphy ever have the pleasure of meeting our renowned fv!!o\v lownsman again, he will find a more formidable opponent than ho did in the same gentleman in the Congress at New York, or than he, lias met in his European tour.—Dub.
