THE BANNER: MADISON: stsits 2: NOV. 25, 1846. TOMORROW, it will be remembered, is Thanksgivin day. We would remind our readers that, by arrangement among the Clergy of the city, a Sermon is to be preached at the Third St. Methodist church, at half past 10 o’clock, A. M., by the Rev. Mr. Waitt, of the Bap tist Church. At quarter before 6 o'clock, P. M., the friends of Temperance are to hold a meeting at the Third St. church, at which one or more addresses will be delivered.— At a 4 past 7, the Ladies’ Benevolent Soci ety will meet at the Apollo Saloon, at which time addresses will be delivered for the bene fit of the funda of the Society. The meet ing will also be enlivened by good vocal and instrumental music. ‘The ‘Stringed Band,” and the best singers in the city, will be in attendance. The Ladies’ Benevolent Socie ty has for its object the relief of the poor, the sick, and the afflicted. Periodical meet ings will be held during the winter, at which addresses, from gentlemen previously ap pointed, may be expected, and the best music the city affords, will be provided. The ob ject of the Society commends itself to the best feelings of our nature, and we cannot doubt that that every person who has a heart, and the ability, to relieve the suffering poor, will attend the meetings. It is desir able that the Ladies be encouraged in their benevolent undertaking by a good attendance at the first meeting, which will take place as above announced.
