Commander Mulieri Leaves Coast GuardAUGUSTA. Ga.—Lt. Comcl'. Joseph Mulieri of Augusta and Charleston, has been released from active duty by the U. S. Coast Guard, after nearly four years in the service.During the early months of his service. Comdr. Mulieri was stationed in Charleston, where he assisted in the organization of the Sixth naval district coastal and anti-submarine patrols. Later he went to Italy, where he served as chief of the fisheries division, of the Allied Commission. In t his capacity he supervised the activities of some 10,000 Italian fishing craft. Recently he returned to Charleston to assist in writing the history of the Sixth naval district.For his work in organizing the North African fishing industry, Comdr. Mulieri was awarded Die Legion of Merit by the U. S. Army headquarters in the Mediterranean theatre of operations.
