RECEIVED WARNING LETTER.John Wells Notified to Leave sown Within Seventy= Four Honrs. One of the direct effects of mob rule is a letter received by John Wells, an inoffensive, harmless colored man, Friday, notifying him that he must get out of town within twenty-four hours or re ceive punishment from the coward or cowards who signs himself or themselves, “White Caps.” John Wells’ offense against these self-constituted regulators of society is the fact that he married Della Chowning, a white woman over two years ago. He is industrious and quiet, taking careof his own business affairs and bothers no one. It is safe to predict that he is quite as good a citizen as the contemptible coward who wrote the note.Wells’ friends told him to remain and they would see that he is protected. Marshall Beck was notified and special pains will betaken to see that no outrageous mob can accomplish any work of this kind without somebody get ting a full sized dose of lead. No cheap talk about being “a good American citizen” can be sprung the second time with good effect.
