Bench to be dedicated in memory of Mary Ellen TannerKENNEBUNK — The group Justice for Mary is welcoming the public to attend a bench dedication ceremony in memory of Mary Ellen Tanner on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. at Rotary Park in Kennebunk.Tanner was a Kennebunk High School student who was murdered in July 1978. Her case remains unsolved, though it has recently been re-opened. Craig Tufts, a former Kennebunk resident, donated the tunds to purchase a bench and plaque in Mary’s memory. The Rotary Park event will include a ceremony to dedicate the bench. Hot cider and doughnuts will be served, and paper lanterns in memory of Mary will be released. Silicone “Justice for Mary” awareness bracelets will be available by donation and a limited amount of Justice for Mary T-shirts will be for sale. All funds raised will go toward the Mary Ellen Tanner Memorial Scholarship fund.Those who would like to make a tax-deductible donation directly to the Mary Ellen Tanner Memorial Scholarship Fund may send them directly to the Kennebunk-Kennebunkport Alumni Association, P.O.
