LOSS TO BE SMALLThe loss from the recent sinking of two barges with lumber for the new Dauphin* Island school' will be comparatively small, William P. Davidson, business assistant of the school board, predicted yesterday on returning from a trip to Dauphin Island to investigate the situation.Two of three lumber-laden barge* went down at the Fort Gaines wharf during heavy weather. Mr. D§.v:tdson said most of the lumber was salvaged and a large per cent of it apparently was not seriously damaged. The barges have been raised-Foundation work Jor the Dauphin Island school is nearing completion, Mr Davidson said. The building will be a four-room frame structure and probably will be ready for occupancy by about the middle of January, Meanwhile, on account of the two recent school house fires on the island. the school has been temporarilydiscontinued.
