Worth counties.The Chilton Murder Trial.The case of State of Missouri vs. Andrew J. and Henry Chilton, whichwhs tried last week, was watched with great imerest by a large number of people, the court-room being crowded during the whole of its progress.On the 2Gth of March, last, Andrew J. Chilton, Henry, Ills sou, and Alexander Chilton hull a fracas at the home of Perry Chilton, six miles down the river from town, during which Alexander Chilton met his death. The weapons used by Andy and Henry were a stone and a pistol. At the last May term ot our circuit court Andy and Hcniy were indicted for murder in the first degree. It would not be policy for us to go into details further than to say that the friends of the defendants and also those of the deceased worked energetically lor their respective objects. Seay, Win go and Wood-side represented the defence, while Livingston and Evans prosecuted. The pleadings were logical and eloquent, and at about nine o’clock Saturday night the case was submitted to the “twelve good men and Nearly all of that night men stood about the streets ingroups discussing the evidence and the probable findingof the jury, but not until about seven o’clock .Sunday morning did,the result become known. The jury declared that they' had failed to reach a verdict, and stood six for. acquittal and six lor imprisonment in the penitentiary.
