PROSPECTUS. ‘The growing importance of the colony of South Aus tralia, and the cupidevelopment of its resources, require that the Banking commodation afforded to the community should be simple and efficient, and yet the legitimate requirements of commerce already Bsr tarved the Hired ‘suena at the disposal of the tarve establishments at present existing in Adelaide. ‘The ample pol which for some years past have been realiged by an absentee proprietary from the busi ness transactions of the Union Bank of Australia, the Bank of Australasia, and the South Australian Banking Company, afford sufficient evidence that a Bank, carried on principally with the funds of the coloi nists, would not only be of essential service to the com munity, but would plus prove highly remunerative to the proprietors. At present there is no Bank in Adelaide from the remadations of which the colonists themselves derive any profit, or in the management of which they have any rote. Consequently, whenever the profits of Banking appear to be temporarily greater in any other colony, the two Branch Banks in Adelaide, being tun controlled by local interests, can without difficulty re move the funds they hold to a more remunerative market, thus abandon to great and unavoidable injury the trade and commerce of the province. ‘The refablishment of a Joint-Stock Bank in Adelaide would offer, through ito local proprietary, a satisfactin guarantee to the colonists that its capital woul be withdrawn for excovery employment in any of the acher selonicy, causing thereby such pressing monetan distress as the commuunity witnessed in the year 186% while to the English capitalist it would offer the edgan ‘of a business connection st once assured and per petuated by the interests of the colonial shareholders. valng of a caumaction thus established and con firmed will be least indicated by quoing Helabo prices in London of the shares of the three Hanks connected with His colony.
