UUVC9 WO uiu III vuii nuu JllcniTVU III.The Maiti.ahd Petition on the New Constitution.—The following letter has just been received by the secretary to the committee who had charge of the |**tition ugainst the Constitution Hill agreed to in March last in Maitland, announcing that the petition Lad been laid before her Majesty Colonial Secretary* OUice, Sydney, I6vh November, 1854. Sir,'— Referring to my letter ol the Gth March last relative to a petitiou to the C'ueen, from certain inhabitants of Maitland and the neighbourhood, on the subject of the proposed new constitution for this coion : I have now the honour by direction of his Excellency the Governor General to state for the information of the petitioners, tint the Secretary of State has intimated in his despatch of the loth August last. No. 25, that he has laid the petition before her Majesty.—I have the honour to he. Sir, your obedient servant, W.
