One of a Series The Allen girls will depend on a balanced offensive at tack in their quest for post season play in the upcoming basketball season while the boys face a rebuilding year after an 8-13 mark last year. Coach Hank Robertson has only two starters back on his boys squad but he may be able to tap some talent from the underclassman ranks. A pair of seniors, Terry Humphrey (6-412) and Glenn Williams (6-2) are back to lead the Mustangs and pro vide ample height for the front wall. Sam Hardage (5-11) and Charley McFerran (6-0) are the front-runners for the open forward spot. Coy Howry and Charles Sanders, a couple of 6-0 juniors, will add size and depth to the forward slots. Gilford Turpin, a senior, and junior Dicky Pegg could fill the two guard positions. Robertson has junior Mark Cannady and freshman Tim Postoak available for action at the guard spots. Three forwards return for girls coach James Sanders. All three averaged in double figures last season and should combine for a well balanced attack this year. Gloria Kelley Tillery led the Mustang attack last year with 16.2 tallies per game while Marilyn Thomas and Tammy Humphrey contri buted 15.1 and 14.7 points, re spectively. Sanders has several pros pects up from the junior high program that should add depth to the forward end. Vicki DeMarinas, a 5-9 senior, will head the defen sive corps. Sanders will need to replace the other two guard positions _—with adequate talent before the Allen girls can be considered probable contenders for ex tended playoff action.
