; I«ath of Charley i.atig*fon.Charley Langston, the well know colored man, died Saturday night at hie home in west Lawrence, after a lingering illness. Tiie deceased had i been confined to his bed nix weeks prior to his death with chronic slom-acb trouble and his taking off was not unexpected, though it will ^ be suJ news to his many friends. The fuuer al services will be conducted by the colored Masons at the A. M. E. church at 2 o’clock to-morrow after noon. Rev. Wilson, presiding elder, will preach the sermon.Chas. H. Langston was born in Vir* ginia in slavery and was afterwards sent to school at Oberlin, Ohio. He came to Lawrence in 1870, and has lived here ever since. Four years ago be went into the grocery business on Massachusetts street with Richard Bnrns. Two weeks ago the partnership was dissolved as Mr. Langston knew he could not recover. He was past grand master of the colored masons and was president of the colored Benevolent society in this city and was quite a political figure a I I few years ago. His brother was minister to Liberia and representative in Congress from Virginia in the last session. He was 72 years of age at his death. He was widely known and liked, and his wife and three children who survive him have the sympathy of many friends.
