Ut3\U UCJiUijUCllL anD. M Clakk, Pres.Obituary.goDeath again, has been in our midst, and left the mark of his ruthless finger on the face of our society. Another home mourns the absence of the departed one. The harvest was ripe for the sickle. A rich sheaf of golden grain into eternity’s storehouse. Mrs. Emma A. Houghton was born June 12, 1844, at Westminster, Vt, and was united in marriage with Henry Houghton, March 22, 1866.This exceptionally happy union was I blessed with two children, Alice and Eddie, and has proved in every way to be “whom God hath joined together.” In August* 1876, the deceased, with those who now mourn her as wife and mother lost to them on earth forever, removed from Norwalk to Elyria, where she resided until her death, Nov-6, 1889. Abovt two years since, marked the inception of her suffering, since which time cloud and sunshine have passed at varied intervals over her physical life Her last hours of consciousness were fraught with dreadful suffering—patiently endured. We have had occasion to visit many homes where love was a marked element of power in their control, but never have we entered a home where love held higher place than in this one Many kind mothers, affectionate wives tender and true friends, have come under our observation, but never one superlatively so than she.Another characteristic, second to none in her life, one which by virtue of its inherent qualities bears just such fruits as ne have mentioned above, 1(*.was her exalted Christian faith. In 1859. at Hamilton, Mo , she professed her faith in Jesus as the Christ, and was inducted into His body. By a God-iSjly life and conversation, by work of :1_!faith and labor of love she adorned her Christian character with many virtues and graces Her Master’s work was of primary importance and demanded her best effort and most careful attention *The stricken family have full sympathy of a host of friends Burial took place Friday p. m Nov. 8th, from the Disciple ebureh, E. S. DeMiller, of Zanesville, in charge. * [The above was received too late for publication, last week. Ed.]upFeStfriIIthtobewibi:anreWStwlthatatthraTllieCii■e-|
