This business, one of Ottumwa’s oldest, is recognized as the largest Insurance Agency in southeastern Iowa. R. E. Well man president and treasurer, has been with the firm since its or ganization in 1905. Weston M. Cain, a more recent stockholder in the corporation, is its vice president in charge of sales. The Shms Plumbing Co., corner of Main and Washington streets, has taken a prominent part in the building operations of Ottumwa since its establishment in May of 1911. J. P. Ihms, the senior member of the partnership has a record of fifty-four years as a plumber. His son, George Tihma, joined the business as a partner in 1922 after having worked for a number of years before 4s 4 journeyman plumber. This firm conducts both a retail plumb ing and heating store as well as the contracting of the smallest to the largest plumbing, heating, oil burning and air conditioning jobs. La Forgue Brothers Leather Shop at 112 West Second street has for many years been headquar ters for quality merchandise in al types of leather goods. Manufacturers of everything in the line from an all-leather briefcase to the most dependable of heavy harness, La Forgues are known through out this section of the state for their fine workmanship and materials. The firm has always handled a complete line of the latest in luggage and now, as their newest venture, a gift shop has been added under the direction of Mrs. Ed La Forgue who searched the Chicago markets for this very fine dis play of gift novelties. Quality products and friendly service is the formula which Bert Horner is using at his Pure Oil Co. station, 619 Church street, in his building of a continued increase in daily customers. Mr. Horner promises to look after your car or truck as if it were his own when you bring your service station problems to him. He claims to have the most modernly equipped grease and wash racks in Ottumwa for the size of the room. Hot water is always available and used in the washing of cars and fabrica tion jobs are done in this heated room.
