MOB OF 150 AVENGES BEATING GIVEN TO FARMER BY HOLDUPS.LIMB BREAKS; TWO ESCAPEMoberly, Mo., Is Stirred by the Cruel Holdup—No Attempt Has Been Made to Arrest Members of Mob.Moberly, Mo.—No arrests are eon templated here following the lynching by a party of 150 men of a negro. Hailey Richardson, 18 years old. of Chicago, is the negro lynched. Three others, Sanford Taylor, 20, of East St. Louis; George Adams, 18, and James Anderson, both of Chicago, escaped death when the limb to which all three were hanged broke and they eluded the mob in the darkness.The assailants of the negroes are believed to be neighbors of Edward Thompson, a farmer, living three miles from Moberly. Thompson had reported to the Randolph county authorities that he had been held up, robbed and beaten into insensibility. The negroes were arrested in a negro hotel here.None of the mob was recognized, It is stated. In Macon they got the negroes from the sheriff by a ruse, and later they were seen in Forest Park, Moberly, where the hanging took place. County authorities said they did not believe the negroes were I. W. W's. and had no reason to think the four men planned to cause race troubles.The three negroes who escaped the mob were captured in different parts of the county and were taken to the Randolph county jail at Huntsville, where they are held. There is no excitement there and no further trouble is anticipated. j
