Crystal *Springs also had on exliibi-jt inn five gallons of borne mo-;lasses nianufactmcd from La. *cane, which surpassed any 1thing of the kind wo have 1I ever seen. Miss Fannie Har-Aris bad on exhibition a bou-(|iiet, beautifully arranged 1IVom twenty-six different spe ’cics of gra[ies, collected from 'the neighborhood of Crystal /Springs, air. Her vast agricultn ral resources are being fast 1 developed, and her citizens’ •in wide awake. In this line we believethe little town has no peer. And as far as our limited acquaintanceship extends they are proverbial for their affability. Devoid of affecta-tion, they are endowed with more than ordinary gracefulness of manners and accomplishments. 'Whoever captures a Brandon girl will he most Inekv. Excuse this lit-tie panegyric towards the ladies of Brandon, hut we think they deserve it.IIWe are sorry to say that we never saw as much whisky drank at one fair before. On Friday there could not have been less than five hundred d' nnken men in theeity of Jackson. It may have been a jollification meeting flowing from a great political victory, hut nevertheless they were drunk. No doubt it is a reflux of the great ti dal temperance wave thatul most submerged our land last year-- led on by crusading women. Ennui invariably follows too much enthusiasm in polities, religion or temperance. A very hot iron soon cools unless the beat is kept up.
