Community Jazz band plays Sunday An afternoon concert featuring such jazz works as Gershwin’s “A Foggy Day” and Al Cobine’s “Creole Blues” will be performed by the Com munity Jazz band at 4 p.m., Sunday in the Kindig Performing Arts center of Thornton Community college, 15800 South State street, South Hol land. Tickets are $2. The concert program will include Ellington’s and Tizol’s “Carvan,” Les Hooper’s “Funk and Fanfare” and John Coltrane’s “Lazy Bird.” IN ADDITION, two works will fea ture solo performances, including Steinberg’s “You’re Gonna Hear From Me” with Clare Palm of Coun try Club Hills on tenor sax and Hoagy Carmichael’s “Skylark” with Wally Antriewicz of South Holland on alto sax. The Community Jazz band is under the direction of Donald Kramer. Other members include Dale Shipe of Oak Lawn, John Zielinski of Lan sing and Bill Graeber of Homewood on saxophone; Kevin Kairis of Bur band, George Kowwater of Paros Heights, Pete Lacey of South Holland and Sykes Smith of Gary on trumpet; Sam Walton of Harvey, Ken Danz of Chicago and Erwin Mack and Kim Mniszewski, both of South Holland, on trombone; Valerie Nicholson of Park Forest on piano; Tony Basil of Dalton on guitar; Jim Bober of Calu met City on bass and Greg Bolin of South Holland on drums. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., with Sunday’s show at 2 p.m.
