Following quickly upon its overwhelming victory at the polls, the liquor trade during the past few days has given evidence of its reckless spirit in savage attacks upon two of the most prominent reform leaders of the nation.The cold-blooded assassination of former United States Senator Carmack at Nashvilleand the attempted murder of Prosecuting Attorney Heney at San Francisco by an exposedsaloonkeeper, were both vivid flashlights showing the real villainy at the heart of the drink traffic.
