The Eastern Field TrialsCharlotte, N. C.t November 16.—A special to The Observer from Newton. N. C.f says: The weather today continues unfavorable to good work in the eastern field trials.The derby course was concluded this morning with the following results:Zeb, owned and handled by Victor Humphreys, of Lexington. N. C.. won first prize of S'**); Pearl R. handled by D. K. Rose, second prize of 1200; and Why Not. owned by P. Lorillard, Jr., and handled by C. Tucker, won third prizeof SI00.Zeb. the winner of first place, was soldyesterday, after running two series, to S. F. R. Hitchcock, of New York, for S200. In making the trade it was agreed that the seller was to receive any purse the dog might wia. consequently this dog in two days brought to Mr. Humphreys the round sum of $500.Messrs. S. C. Bradley, of Greenfield Hill. Conn., A. Merriman. of Memphis, and Thomas Sturges. of New York, were the judges of this race.In the membership stake run Saturday. Rowland, owned by P. Loriliard, Jr.. and Millie. B. owned by Dr. J. S. Brown, were highly commended, each receiving handsome prizes.The all age stake began today after the conclusion of the dqfby. The following dogs started: Pin Money. Toney s Gale, Elgin’s Dash. Winkee. Hurstbourne. Zip, Anna Abbotsford. Cbristena. Young Rip Rap. Kent of Grace. Sarsfteld. Shadow, Rod Fieldsb* rry. Count Glorter. Saragossa Belle. Cincinnatus Pride, and Dave Earl. It is probably that several series will be required and that this race will not be finished until tomorrow evening.
