Richard C. StewartFuneral services for Richard C. Stewart, 71, of Iowa Falls were held at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with burial at Union Cemetery. The Rev. Gary C. Jenkins of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiated. Mr. Stewart died at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls Nov. 14, 1986.He was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Hardin County the son of Charles and Elizabeth Bogie Stewart. He lived in Iowa Falls all of his life, and never married. Mr. Stewart graduated from Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1933 and from Ellsworth College in 1935. He worked as club steward for Iowa Falls Elks Club B.P.O.E. No. 1674 for 20 years and also at Hoxie Fruit Company and Manning W. Howell Company. He was a memberof the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls, a life member of 13.P.O.E.. in Iowa Falls and Iowa Falls Hyman Peavey American Legion Post No. 188.During World War II Mr. Stewart served with the U.S. Army from 1941-45 and was a member of the 34th Division,168th Infantry, He received three Bronze Battle Stars and also the Purple Heart.Surviving are his sister, Miriam of Iowa Falls, and three cousins, Mrs. El wood Iverson of Dows, Mrs. Elaine Denger of Des Moines and Mrs. Alice Mae Luedke of Faribault, Minn. Preceding him in death were his parents.Full military rites were conducted by Hyman Peavey American Legion Post No. 188.
