Columbus Magnet School goes country for holiday fairIf you like the country, you’ll love the ninth annual Columbus Magnet School holiday fair.The fair will take place Satur day, November 19, at Columbus Magnet School on Chestnut Street in South Norwalk from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.*it has become a major fun-iser for the school,” said Den-Rowe, co-chairman of this year’s fair. “It has also become a major community event,” she said.The theme of this year’s fair is the “Country Peddler,” andfor weeks the family room at Columbus School has resembled an old cottage factory. Smells of potpourri and dried apple wreaths fill the air.Parents of children at the school have been coming together in workshops making apple, grapevine, and pine-cone wreaths. They have been decorating baskets and broad-brimmed straw hats with ribbons and flowers. They have been covering photo albums with fabric and lace, and painting wooden toys and checker pieces.Parents at home will be bakingbreads, coffee cakes, and other “from scratch” items for the fair.In addition there will be a non-clothing tag sale, and a Chinese auction where raffle tickets may be purchased for individualprizes.
