1 Dead, 3 Hurt In Central Ave. Auto CollisionColonial Heights Couple Are Injured; Bronx Man KilledMr. and Mrs. Charles F. Perner, 81 Plymouth Ave., Colonial Heights, are confined in Lawrence Hospital suffering from injuries received in an auto accident on Central Park Ave., about 500 feet south of Palmer Rd., at 2:15 a.m. Sunday in which a Bronx resident was killed and another Bronx man was seriously injured.At the hospital late yesterday Mr. Perner’s condition was reported as “very uncomfortable’' while Mrs. Perner was said to be “better.”The dead man is Edward Moore, 61, of 2312 Andrews Ave., Bronx, who was a passenger in a car operated by Thomas Lowery, 25, of 2255 Morris Ave., Bronx.According to Yonkers police, Mrs. Perner told them her husband was driving north at a moderate rate of speed approaching Palmer Rd. when suddenly a southbound car with bright headlights loomed directly in front of them in the northbound lane. She screamed and Mr. Perner tried to swerve out of the way but failed.Both cars were practically demolished by the force of the impact.Dr. Andrew Eggleston of Mt. Vernon, assistant county medical examiner, gave permission for the removal of Mr. Moore’s body to the McGrath Funeral Home.Mrs. Perner is suffering from a fractured nose, lacerations of the nose requiring six stitches, a possible fracture of the right ankle, abrasions and contusions of the right knee.Her husband is suffering from severe shock, fractures of the ribs and lacerations of the chin.Mr. Lowery suffered lacerations of the left knee requiring 16 stitches, lacerations of both eyelids requiring four stitches, gnji. multiple bruises about the body.The fatality wfas the ninth in Yonkers thus far this year.
