BROOKS, NOV. 15—Ward has been received by R. L. Ward that his son, Private First Class Wil liam Ray Ward, 22, was killed in action in Italy on October 10. He had entered the service on December 8, 1942, and trained at Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi, transferring from there to Louisi anna. He later went to Ft. Dix, New Jersey from where he was sent to North Africa in December, 1943. He later took part in the Italian campaign where he was reported killed. Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ward, of Brooks, and the follow ing brothers and sisters: Ethel, Elizabeth and Bobby Ward, all at home; Private Walter S. Ward, somewhere in England; Johnny Ward and Mrs. Nellie Plumley, of Brooks; Mrs. Dorothy Carson, of Hinton; Mrs. Louise Carson, of Kingston; and Mrs. Madeline Flynn, of Hugheston, Pfc. Ward was a member of the Brooks Baptist church, where memorial services were conducted for him last Sunday
