Artificial Foul.—Little or no attention lias been devoted to this subject in our country, and yet it is one which should not be treated with indifference. In England there are several large factories where ir is made for ocean steamers especially ; and it found to be profitable business there, wo do not see why it may nut be made here. It is generally compose I of coal-tar mixed with saw-dual uud coal-dust, all heated together nnd then pressed into square blocks. Fine coal nnd saw-dust that would otherwise be considered waste, are thus converted into u useful fuel, capable of being packed neatly and carried to nay distance.—Scientific American.
