* '-vwMf '%JjkTours RefineryFacility Is Celebrating Its 100th Anniversary In 2017Troy Times-Tribune Staff ReportMadison County Historical Society (MCHS) held its annual meeting at Rox-Arena in Roxana and toured the Wood River Refinery which is 100 years old this year on Sunday evening, November 5.Prior to the annual dinner meeting, a bus tour which included two full buses were taken through the facility which is over 2,400 acres large.Following the refinery tour, a stop was made at the Wood River Refinery Museum, where many artifacts, souvenirs and photos are displayed.MCHS Annual Meeting Chair, Candance Ladd welcomed everyone to the event.MCHS President Gary Denue called the meeting to order following the dinner.Election of officers was held for MCHS Board of Directors Those elected or re-elected were Norma Asadorian, of Granite City, and William Eaton, Stephen Hansin and Cindy Reinhardt, all of Edwardsville.Other board members are Gary Denue of Edwardsville, Don Huber ol Alton, Candance Ladd ol Edwardsville, Arnold Meier of Highland, Jeff Pauk of Edwardsville, Mary J. Bade of Maryville, Tallin Curran ol Granite City, Mae Grapperhaus ol Troy, Murray Harbke of Wood River. Athena Hubert of Pontoon Beach, and Sue Wolf of Edwardsville.After the meeting, Melissa Erker, director of Governments and Community Relations for WRB Refining LP, Wood River Refinery, gave a talk and slide presentation on the refinery's history.The refinery who has gone utfdei several names and many upgrades and changes since its beginning in 1917. It is currently the Phillips 66 Refinery. Through the years it has bought out other refineries in Hartford and Wood River. The tour guides on the buses noted that all sorts of oil products are made there.
