PAGE 4 Thursday, November 16, 1967Officers Election By County H-D CouncilForty-five members and guests were registered at the annual Achievement Day observance held by the Chambers County Home Demonstration Clubs. The meeting and covered dish luncheon was held in the Wallisville Community Center.The morning session was devoted to matters of business Including the election of officers. Mrs. Carl Crowder of Barters Hill, a member of the Hankamer Club, was elected to her second term as president of the County Council. Mrs. J. P. Avera of Barbers Hill was elected aser, and Mrs. J. T. Carter, Winnie, secretary.Mrs. Charlie Smith of Wallisville and Mrs. J. P. Avera of Barbers Hill were appointed to the auditing committee.A proof of the 1968 yearbooks was displayed for members to see by Mrs. P. A. Durr of Winnie.The president of each Home Demonstration Club in the County made a report of the year's activities within her club and a new H. D. Club for Wlnnlp was recognized. Known as the Young Matron’s Home Demonstration Club of Winnie, the membership is made up largely of the mothers ofsmall children. Mrs. Kole and four members of the new club were recognized at the meeting.Mrs. Thurman House of Anahtiac presented a devotional entitled Let There Be Light, to close the morning session.Fol lowing luncheon, Gulf States Utilities Company Home Economist, Sue Hawthorne, presented a program entitled, Proper Lighting for Christmas and Holiday Ideas.
