The program provides for the departure of the convention delegates from Laredo early Saturday morning for the Don Martin irrigation project site, and after arrival there they will be guests at a big barbecue held at Don Marti'n, while the afternoon will be spent in a thorough inspection of the huge project that when completed will directly irrigate 150,000 to 175,00 acres ©f land along the great canals.Among the prominent engineers directly connected with the Don Martin irrigation, project who will be on the program for talks will be Andrew Weiss, resident engineer at Don Martin, who will ftive an illustrated lecture explaining and showing the tentative features of the construction work; Salvador 'Tus-MexpartNaughty Marietta Highly Acclaimed By Laredo FolksGuarantors Are Commended In Bringing To Laredo Very High Class Performance.A fairly good-sized and appreciative audience witnessed the Naughty Marietta” operetta at the Royal Theater last Tuesday night. Every seat in the house should have been occupied on -this occasion, for the large troupe ofplayers and orchestra that constituted •the company was one of the cleanest and best that ever visited this portion of the state.The talented Eva Briggs in the stellar role showed the versatility of this young •woman as a finished operetta star, and the supporting cast was of a character I rarely seen outside the larger cities of the country. The orchestra also made an instant hit with Laredo people, who love good music, and here they had it in plenteous share.Lnredo owes a debt of gratitude to such men as Mayor Albert Martin, Maths de Llano, C. R. Cole B. M. Alexander and Robert Lee Bobbitt for bringing this high-class operetta organization to Laredo, for it was these gentlemen who had underwritten the needed sum to insure their appearance here.i h) will talk construction of great irrigation works, and Enrique de Silva, one of the supervising engineers of the Don Martin dam, who will make a talk on the general construction of the huge project.The delegates attending the Laredo convention on Friday-Saturday will be provided with special metal badges procured for the occasion. In the center of these badges are a slide card on which will appear the name of the delegate, while above the place for the card is a scene depicting a railroad bridge connecting two cities, and below a replica of the international bridge connecting the two Laredos. As the hunting season for deer will open on the date the Convention meets in Laredo, there appears on one end of the place for the name card a fishing scene, with a deer in the distance, while oj the other end appears ^UCks on the wing.The delegates will be entertained at noon Friday with a buffet lunch on the twelve-story Hamilton Hotel, followed by the annua! banquet in the patio of the Hamilton Hotel on Saturday, night, with Speaker Robert Lee Bobbitt as- the' principal speaker. The ladies accompanying the delegates will be entertained Friday with a bridge luncheon at the : Casa Blanca Country Club by a committee of Laredo women headed by Mrs. B. G. Koch and assisted by Mesdames Edmund J. Foster, R. M. Conner and T. E. Huffman. County Highway Engineer T. E. Huffman of Webb county is chariman of the Laredo arrangement committee, assisted by members of the local fraternity.The following is a list of 65 prominent engineers who have made reservations at Laredo hotels and will attend the convention: A.
