Fruit Grown on the Frozen Dog Ranch Brings $91.75 Per Ton in the New York City Market. Capital News Special Service. Emmet, Nov. 16—Probably the biggest price secured for a carload of prunes by an Emmett grower this year was $1156 f, 0. b. Emmett, for a car containing 1260 crates, ‘This is equiva lent to $91.76 per ton. These prunes were sold by Duncan Hunter and were grown on the famous Frozen Oak fruit farm east of Emmett. ‘The car of prunes was sold In New York, ‘The crates In this carload of prunes were packed in what is termed the suit case pack. The total cent of packine prunes this way is much cheaper than the usual method of packing them In ters In the little baskets. The total ex pense of the suitcase pack is 16 cents per crate f. o. b. cars, as compared with, 26 cents per crate when the other method is used. By using the suit-case pack Mr. Hunter saved 16 cents per crate or $126 on the car of 1260 crater, SHIP APPLES IN BARRELS. One of Emmett's prominent fruit shippers made the statement that he is his opinion that in the future most of the prunes grown here will be suit- case packed. He is strongly of the opinion that the time is approaching when Idaho apples will be shipped east on barrels instead of boxer. Froin Heath got a return of $2200 from his four acres of prunes. He sold his prunes by the ton for #2200 net at the orchard, which in a return, of $560 per aero.
