Fletcher, and Mr. Richard D. L. Fletcher, of Cape Charles, were here to attend the funeral of Capt. Edward B. Waples.»Abel tfpshur, a former slave of the late William B. Upshur,of “Brownsville,” died here Monday, after an illness of several months of Brights disease, aged 75 years. Few persons in the town were more respected than “Uncle Abe.” He was the faithful sexton’ of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for a number of years, and a few w'eeks before his death joined the faith by communion. Many of the representative people of the town w^re present at the funeral service, which was conducted at his late home,-by Rev. J. C. Cornick.
