Wanda Geddie, Miss Mississippi, will serve as parade marshall for Laurel’s annual Christmas parade, which will be held on Dec. 3. In addition, the parade will feature at least a dozen floats and 11 bands. Sandersville Elementary School, the Laurel Kiwanis Club, Community Day Care, West Laurel Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Deeper Life Chris tian Tabernacle, Wildwood Baptist Church kind ergarten, Laurel Sertoma Club, Stan Hoven ae and Sawmill Square Mall have confirmed that they will have floats, Ron Pankowski said, and an additional float will carry Santa Claus. Bands from Jones County Junior College, West Jones, Northeast Jones and South Jones high schools, South Jones, Gardiner and Jones junior high schools and Heidelberg High School have made commitments to appear in the parade. The beginner, junior and senior bands from R.H. Watkins High School have also an nounced plans to march in the Christmas parade. Deadline for entering the parade is Nov. 25, he said, and there is no entry fee. Entries may be made by contacting Pankowski at 649- 2250. Trophies and cash prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for race and $25 for third place will be pre sented to the winning floats, and honorable mention trophies will also be pre sented to floats placing fourth, fifth and sixth place.
