In the seventeenth century “the ship “Jesus” brought the first load of African ‘black gold’ to American shores,” said Leon van Dyck, co-ordinator of the Albany “Brothers,” at a meeting sponsored by the Newman Club, to discuss the “black” man in the “white” community, on Tuesday,November 12.“Sharks followed the ships looking for the black slaves to he thrown overboard.” My ancestors, he stated, “were brought here to work,” to live in huts, to eat, and to be beaten,“You can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time,” but the white man has tried in the United States for the Dast two hundred years.
