Carpenter Dead.Charles Everett Carpenter, son of the late William Benjamin and Mary Ann Cbamplin Carpenter, died Satur-day night at his home in 'Copenhagen, following an illness of several months of b right's disease. H-e was born in Copenhagen, Oct. 10, 1868. He was educated in the Copenhagen puulie schools and assisted his father in the meat market business until 18 years of ago, after which. he entered the employ of the late Hiram B. Lanpher as clerk in a general store. At the age of 22 he was admitted as partner in the business and since that time had continued a successful and prosperous merchant He was intimately connected with about every activity in the village of Copenhagen. He was a pro-, moter of the C. C. railroad and jwas a director of the* road and also president of the road for several months He was treasurer of.the school board for several years and trustee of the village for* years- ;axn! trustee of the w kterwof k • -compa hy.. • He Was a mem« her of the-CongregSational church and, •was first trustee of 'the church for4about nine years' and superintendent of the Sunday school for five year*-. He was an active worker in all .branches of church work. He war a member of Orient Lodge, No. 238, F. A. M,June 37; 1881, he was married*, to. Carrie Belle Lanpher. To this union two children were bom, Charles Hiram and Esther. He is- survived by his widow, two children, one sisf.er, Mrs, Alice Robinson, and one brother, William P.
