The Northeastern State Normal School.tio:2!tlhbvciitTahlequah, Okla., Nov.6, 1912.Editor btar-Gazette: Will you please allow me space in your valuable paper for a few lines in behalf of the Northeastern State Normal at this place? This is one of the oldest and best schools in the state of Oklahoma. The present building was built in 1889 by the National government, and used by the Cherokee Nation, as a seminary for the education of Cherokee girls. After statehood it was purchased by the State of Oklahoma, and remodeled for use as a school for training and fitting teachers for life’s work in the schoolroom, Its location is given up by one and all who have visited it to be one of the best, as well as one of the most beatiful and romantic school caQ)-pus’s in the state. The building itself is a massive three story brick structure of some forty or fifty rooms, situated in the suburbs of the busy city of Tahlequah, in the midst of a beautiful campus of forty acres covered with lovely green grass and shaded by magnificent trees of the forest. The building and campus supplied with water from large springs of of pure sparkling water, it is indeed a spot to delight the mind and eye of the beauty lover. And last, but by no means least, the faculty of the school is composed of seventeen efficient instructors, each of whom, is a specialist in his or her line“•W •M'»l ki I ' O-.'*' I ***of teaching. The enrollment in the Normal department at present is about one hundred and fifty, the school spirit is running very high here, and we hope to double the enrollment through the patron’s and student’s Boaster Club.We also have two excellent literary societies that are doing all they can for the success of the school. To the young men and young ladies; boys, and girls of Oklahoma, ’ who wish to secure an education, I would say this is one of the very best places in the state,A diploma from this school carries with it the power of a life certificate, and is recognized in thirty-six States of the Union.Hoping to see this in print, I remain a Booster for the old Northeastern Normal. Yours truly, «James Dixon.
