SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST A BUII/DERiHenry Wood, builder, Marlborough-villaa,Marlborough-road, Bowes Park, appeared in answer to an adjourned summons ehahim wjth indecently assaulting Annie Full; is,'the wife of a papet hanging factor, of River Park-road, Wood Green, on the 1st. ult.— Mr. Purcell, barrister, instructed by Messrs, Avery Co., prosecuted, and Mr. Armitage defended. — Charles Fulkes, husband of complainant, said that he returned home on the 1st of October, soon after the defendant had left, and his wife immediately made a complaint; n consequence witness went totry and find defendant, but did . not succeed until the following day. When he told defendant that if he did not go and apologise proceedings would be taken against him, defendant denied ever having, been at defendants’s shop. The same evening defendant and his wife called in witness’s absence, and in consequence of what took place witness went and consulted Mr. Avery.— James Murray, shopman to theprevious witness, said he was present when defendant and his wife called, and he heard defendant use abusive and threatening language, and refuse to apologise. — Mr. Armitage for the defendant urged that tl^s complainant’s story of the defendant’s indecent behaviour had not been corroborated, and that the worst he had done was tc kiss complainant, for which it had been admittedhe had expressed regret, and offered toapologise. The Bench, having consulted, decided to commit the defendant for trial, and he was allowed bail, himself in £50, and two sureties in £r0.
