.flsy Christ ic Van Poole, who died at his residence in Half AJoon township.Center county, Pa., on the 22d ult , was probably tlie oldest man in the State,being born un the Gth day of June, 175-t, and was consequently 112 years, \ month, and 10 days old. Me assisted to cut and carry the poll to which was fas-I tened the first copy of the Declaration ofj Independence, made public in Philadelphia, and through the entire Revolution,drove his father's team, hauling provisions,clothing, c.t for the “rebel* troops. At the time of his death he was a? sprigLty a5 many a man of sixty-five—both mentally and physically, and could describe events which transpired a century since, under his own observation, with a correctness that was surprising.
