Buck Owens now official as owner of KDOB stationBy RICK BENTLEYTV editor v „At 12:01 a.m. last Friday, Dorothy Owens Broadcasting ceased to exist as KDOB-TV Channel 45 officially came under the direction of Buck Owens Production Co., Inc. The transfer ended more than a year of financial and legal battles for the local independent television station. The Federal Communications Commission had agreed to the transfer on Aug. 27, but the additional time was needed to complete all the paperwork, which ended with last week’s transfer.Former owner Dorothy Owens said in an interview in her office Monday afternoon that the change had positive and negative aspects.“This has been an emotional strain on me. I am happy to get all of this over, but it is also a sad time because this is the end of a dream,” Owens said.In December, KDOB-TV will celebrate its second anniversary. Half its lifespan has been spent in legal and financial battles as Owens filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition under Chapter 11 on Oct. 23, 1989.Please turn to KDOB / B2
