Brownell Pupils Among Bond Sales 4Top Ten’R ROWNELL EI e m e n I a r ySchool, 6741 Michigan, dramatically projected itself into the spotlight throughout Illinois through its outstanding participation in U. S. Treasury Department's Saving Bonds and Savings Stamp campaign.'Pupils of Room 208, 4th grade, Mrs. AI her tine Gray, teacher, were hosts during a recent celebration assembly which welcomed James Michie, Treasury Department representative, and complimented four other participating rooms.MICHIE was there to laud student participation in the bonds-stamp sales campaign and to present Brownell pupils with an award.Brownell and its pupils has thedistinction of being one of 10 schools in Illinois which saved S1000 or more. iBrownell pupils purchased II,-743.75 worth of bonds through the sale of savings stamps beginning m demominations of 10 cents, Mrs. W. Gloria Williams, principal, revealed.“SOME OF the pupils' bonds were bought entirely with 10 cent stamps, others were purchased with larger denominations,” Mrs. Williams advised. Our total is expected to exceed 12000 from outstanding stamps out converted yet into bonds,” Mrs. Gray enthused.Michie was visibly impressed as pupils from rooms participating sood and told the assembly abouttheir savings and the bonds they had purchased. All of them owned two or more bonds. Those owning two or more bonds are:_______ ....Room 200, which topped the bonds-stamps sales with II bonds, are Mitchell Hatchett, 2; Donald Savage, 3: Brenda Frye, 2. and Vivian Ester, 4.Room 202, 8 bonds: Sandra Griffin, 2: Diana Jones, 6; Room 203, 2 bonds: Richard Turner; Room 204, 8 bonds: Camille Lipscomb. 2: Anita Anderson, 2; Jan-yth Auston. Room 208*s, three bonds were purchased by Gary Curry.“THE PUPILS purchased a to- \ tal of 83 bonds,” Mrs. Gray ex- | plained. Ten of these were 5501 bonds and 73 were S25 bonds. Mary L. Washington, 6335Morgan was presented a pin and a certificiate of appreciation for her participation in giving Red Cross disaster services to Chicago victimsduring the past five years.
