Drivers Honored, 230 Present at Stoekcar Dinner'Presentation of racing trophies and introduction of new officers highlighted the tVerd annual banquet of the Wayne County Stock Car Racing Association, attended by about 230 members and guests, Saturday at the Beach lake Fire Hall.Awarded trophies for standing in the 50-lap feature race held October 5 at the Beach-lake track were William Malti, dr., of Beachlake, first place; dames A. Smith of Honesdale, second; Paul dones of Bake Ariel, third, and Spike McGur-rin, of Newton Iaike, high* point man with 236 points to his credit,Robert Mack received a plaque from Loren Holland and the original club members, honoring him as founder and organizer of the racing group.The new officers are dames A. Smith, president; Florence M. Smith, secretary-treasurer; Fred Morring, trick manager, and Kenneth Hazard, handi-capper. Directors are Frank White, Loren Holland, Manfred Smith and Spike McGur-rin.Former presidents introduced and honored were Robert Mack, Hairy Kayes, Earl Goodman and r lb ester Sicpiela.Sg*. William H. Ashworth, in charge of the Honesdale Substation, Pennsylvania State Police, was the speaker of the evening. stressing the importance of highway safety and proper reporting of accidents.Bert Henry served as master of ceremonies and the Rev. Michael Shyna of Beachlake gave the invocation and benediction. The turkey dinner was served by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Beachalke Fire Co.The evening was concluded with round and square dancing.
