COURT POSTPONES TRIAL OF DAVISSlayer of Mrs. Dudley, in Jail on Murder Charge, Awaits Summons.(Preston News Service) Washington, D. C., Nov. 11—The Police Trial Board Wednesday postponed for two weeks the trial of Pvt. George S. Davis, aged 36, of the second precinct, who is charged with slaying “without provocation, cause or excuse,” Mrs. Desdemona Barnett Dudley, aged 32, wife of Sherman H. Dudley, wealthy theater owner, while at the Dudley apartments, 1316 You St., N. W., on September 21.Bertrand Emerson, counsel for Davis, said he had not been able to see Davis to prepare a defense. Davis is now lodged in the District Jail awaiting trial, having been indicted by the * grand jury on a charge of murder. 1 The policeman, who is said to have been an ardent admirer of Mrs. Dud- J ley who had been estranged from her husband, shot her on learning of her ( reconciliation with her husband, and then turned the weapon on himself.
