Delegate Wicker-sham led the fight against the steamship companies implicated, while Judge Bogle, chief counsel for the Alaska Steamship Company and the Copper River Northwestern Railway; Attorney Grosscup of the Pacific Steamship Company of Tacoma, Traffic Agent James of the same company; Judge Gorham of Seattle, counsel for the White Pass Railroad, and Traffic Agent Zipf of the same company, appeared for the companies interested in the hearing.I. B. Hurd, of McCarthy, appeared before the commissioner in behalf of the merchants of that town, and testified that the rate on shipments from the States to McCarthy were excessive.
