The celebration over the years has invited surrounding churches, Creedmoor city officials and various signing groups and organizations, according to Carolyn T. Harris. This year, lifetime achievement recipients were Willie E. Mitchell, Lucille Bailey, Lottie Flemming Hall and Barbara W. Washington.Bailey, who now lives in Butner, lived on Pecan Hill for many years. Her neighbors said Bailey and her family were loving and kind, and noted they provided food andbeverages for many past reunions.Mitchell lived on Pecan Hill for five years and still lives in Creedmoor.“It is an honor to be recognized by the Pecan Hill Reunion Committee,” Mitchell said. “It has been my pleasure to participate and contribute throughout the years.“I have fond memories of my years on Pecan Hill. I remember the love and compassionthat neighbors showed toward one another and the lifetime friendships that I developed there.”Hall said she was blessed and grateful to receive the award from the organizers. She also said her memories growing up on the Hill were fond.“We had the freedom to roam and play without fear,” Hall said. “The doors were always open at all the homes of every family that lived there. However, all rules from home were enforced at each home.”Hall retired as a registered nurse from Durham VA Medical Center, where she was a primary nurse for general surgery and orthopedic clinics. She now lives in Mebane and is a member of Mt. Zion AMEChurch in Hillsborough. She is the vice chair of the board of trustees and a member of the health care team at the church.Hall says her favorite Pecan Hill memory was the 2019 Labor Day reunion.“I was at a turning point in my life and things seemed to be inturmoil,” Hall said. “On Labor Day I came to the Hill and the oldest member from the Hill was recognized. I was grateful to be there for that recognition. Just being there calmed my spirit and settled my uneasiness. I had peace, I was comfortable, and I knew that I was at home.”mnninntinn Kominrk A I I A t\A AaJ- Al^l 1
