Some humans derive erotic pleasure from annoying others, sometimes they are asked to be editors.Lou Reed was a disappointment to the majority of the students who attended the concert October 30 for the same reason he was a disappontment to the reviewer: i.e. they were expecting a Lou Reed who existed three to four years ago. For the most part, those attending the concert were familiar only with Transformer— “Walk on the Wild Side.” “Vicious,” and “Satellite of Love,” or Rock and Roll Animal —“Sweet Jane.Lou hasn’t exactly been musical for quite a while. Ron. where have vou been for the last 6 albums'? Playing your SG (Lespaul model circa ’62)'?Lou Reed is Lou Reed, Did the Beatles stay the same? Stagnation is a performer’s Waterloo (have vou heard from Elvis lately?).* *Many people were expecting a glitter covered freak with bizarre dramatic effects. Others went with the same sick fascination that draws one to a sideshow. But Lou is not glitter rock. Lou is not out to impress anyone, The audience condemned him before he began, and in doing so they lost him.Lou’s voice and lyrics are his true claim to fame. He is unique. Lou never pretended to be anything he wasn’t. It is unfortunate that the audience’s “enthusiasm” and his talent were not more complementary.
