Arabella M. Gayer was born at Brimfieid, 111., January 31, 1843, and died at her home in Galva, III., November 7, 1913. *She was the second daughter of the late L. L. Guyer and Elvira M. Guyer.At about the age of fourteen years she united with the M. E. Church and lived a faithful Christian life until the end. For many years being the church organist.£ Her early, education was acquired in Vthe public schools of Brimfieid, later she attended the Brimfieid Academy and completed her schooling also took a course in music, in which she early showed much talent, at the same school and became a successful teacher.During the Civil War she showed her ; patriotism by raising supplies and helping in any and every way the Ladies Aid, never tiring in the work.On May 5, 1865, she was married to R. W. Jones of Brimfieid. After a few months of travel they settled In Galva where Mr. Jones was engaged in the lumber business, he built the home in which she lived forty-seven years almost to the day.She was the mother of seven children, three of whom preceded her to the better world, Mrs. Nettie Emery, Guyer and Louise. Left to mourn their loss are the husband and Almon R. of Galva, Paul R. ot Pomona, Cali., Elizabeth and Ernest in the home, also five grand children and her only brother George C. Guyer of Peoria, 111.For a number of years she had been in failing health the direct result being brought about by a fall 30 years ago. -Since that time she has been an invalid. But the last few years she had been failing more and more until the night before her death when she was stricken with apoplexy.Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev II. M. Bloomer, pastor of the M. E. Church. The singing was by a quartet; Mesdames. Baird and Mink and Messrs. Hall and Teagarden. Their selections were “Crossing the i Bar,” and “Beyond The Smiling and thp Weeping.”The pall bearers were Jas. Gaster, , J. W. Dexter, O.E. Yocum, Ira Sellon, , I. Grant and W. McMeekin. The , body was laid to rest in Galva Cemetery. _
