A Big Undertaking.George J. Langsdale, editor of the Greencastle (Ind.) Banner, comes forward to say that he will agree to find homes for all the negroes who will emigrate from the South to the State of Indiana. He is confident that all who will come can find ready employment on the farms and in the towns of the State. This Mr. Hendricks will call “treason” with emphasis.—Cincinnati Gazette. The Journal is of the opinion that every county in the State needs about 200 Southern negroes each to take care of their agricultural and other industrial enterprises. Of course this means able-bodied men— in all, 18,400 negro men. It is safe to say that one-half of these negro men are married, with an average family of four dependents—wife and three children. This will give in women and ebildren 36,806, and « grand aggregate, men, women and children, of 55,200 negroes, and, according to the Gazette’s information, Mr. George J. Langsdale proposes to find homes for all of them in Indiana. We fancy we see Mr. George J. Langsdale engaged in his sublime work of Africanizing Indiana. It is a big job. See him pant; see him sweat; bear him hal oo : “Make way for the negroes.” More negroes ; still they come, and Langsdale shouts: “Stand aside, white trash ; let the negroeB have work, wages, home, comforts. They come to vote the Republican ticket; to redeem Indiana; to carry the State in 1880. Make room. Don’t you see they are sick, poor, lame, halt, blind, ragged, filthy and covered with vermin, but they are needed in Indiana. I have taken the job to find homes for all who come, and they are coming. Our Republican agents, black and white, are in the South giving it exodus lobelia and Republican salts. Here are the results. I am master of ceremonies. We want homes for these negroes, clothing, food, furniture, medicine, graves, coffins, shrouds. Some are dead, some are dying, some are sick. Take out your pocket-books, give your money for charitable societies, else more will die. They died in St. Louis and all along the river to Kansas. Tbey died in Kansas by scores, by hundreds, and they are still dying in Kansas. Medical colleges are sending to Kansas for “stiffs.” They lay around loose. All tho Republicans in Kansas are squealing: “Take them away; turn aside the drift; we have too much exodus—too many negroes; we can't take care of them, and we won't take care of them.” What a pity it is that Kansas was not blessed with Langsdale. Kansas received only 6,000 negroes from the South. Indiana is to have over 55,000. Kansas has 81,318 square miles, with only a population of 4.48 to the square mile. Indiana has 33,809 square miles, with a population of 49.71 to the square mile. Still, 6,-000 negroes overstocked Kansas, while 55,000 are wanted in Indiana, and Langsdale is to furnish all who come with homes. ’Rah for Langsdale I Let the black Jacks be bis monuments. Let the blackbirds and orows sing his praise, while black Republicans urge him on to do or die. Such is the Republican method to Africanize and Republioanize In diana.—Indianapolis Sentinel.
