New Bern girl raises funds for military working dogsNine year old Avlyn, (second from left), a resident of New Bern, has started a fundraising group called Kids for Canine Soldiers. Partnering with a non-profit in Florida, Project Paws Alive, the organization helps to raise money for military working dogs. She is pictured at her 9th birthday party from which she decided to donate all of her birthday money to the cause after creating a ‘Mission Birthday Challenge’. She is hoping other kids will consider asking friends and family to donate to the military working dogs. For more information, visit https:// projectpawsalive.org/kidsforcaninesoldiers/.
