DECISION OF A NOVEL CASE.An Old .Nsrr»» Itrtalned In Slavery Twenty-ft re Year* After the War.Kansas City, Nov. 10— The court of appeals yesterday rendered a decision in the cam? of Eva Hickm, ad old colored woman. against the estate of the late Jo-j seph llickam, of Moniteau county. Mis-sour I. Eva was a slave on the farm of Hickatu at the close of the war. but was never told that she had been freed, and 1 for twenty-five year* she worked on for the family, believing her**elf still the property of Hfckatn. After Hickam'a death in 1S49 the woman received the fir*t inkling that she was unt a slave, and that she was illegally restrained of her liberty.Ufiiimidfil tor Trial Again.She brought suit against the estate of her former master for 11,440 81 for ser-j vices for twenty-four year* and live days. Kin was awarded one-half Ibis amount, but on nppt-al to the circuit court the , decision was rever* d. Kda brought tne case to the court of appeals, and yesterday the court handed down a decision reversing the lower court*- decision and remanding the cam- for trial.
