Lee County’s top 4-H mem bers were honored at the An nual 4-H Achievement Night program held Saturday at the 4- H Center near Amboy Those named to the 4-H Key Club, the highest state 4-H award were: Tom Dempsey, Susan Hiliison and Mary Lou Plock. This award was pre sented by Arland Kent, plant manager of the Custom Farm Service Center, Scarboro. A Club Charter was presented to the Dixon Falcons 4-H Club, organized for the first time in 1970. W. C. Kessel, Rt. 1. Amboy, chairman of the County Youth Committee, served as M.C. for the event. The program opened with the pledges to the American and 4- H Flags, led by Mary Lou Plock, Dixon, who is the Lee County 4-H Federation vice president. 4-H Clubs named to the newly created 4-H Honor Club Group were: South Dixon Willing Workers, Marion Busy Bees, Gold Star, Minute Maids, Topsy Turvy, Gold Star, and Kum- Joyn-Us 4-H clubs. Citizenship awards went to Merle Bodmer, Jr. and Margie Salzman. Honored in livestock ca tegories were Sue Bothe and Marlene Nass in the beef divi sion; Jerry Bushman, Susan Young, Joan Bushman and Mike Pratt in the dairy divi sion; Michael Draper, Gary Leffelman, Randy Nusbaum and Beth Busbaum in the swine division; Keili Draper and Mary Maresh in the dog division and Mary Maresh, Andrea Pitzer, Vicki Staker, Jayne Wiemken in the horse division. W.E. Reigle, of the Dixon Na tional Bank, presented the awards to the blue ribbon 4-H demonstration winners on be half of the Illinois Bankers Association. Special awards to 4-H mem bers included: Marlene Nash and Mary Lou Plock in electri city and Susan Hillikson for individual award. The club award went to Hamiton Hust lers. Other county medal winners were: Phyllis Ramsdell, Lynda Benson, Connie Hubbell, Janis Meyer, in food nutrition; Lynn Benson, Debbie LaCousiere, Deanne Droege, Susan Prit chard in clothing; Becky Brauer, Mary Lou Plock, Phyl lis Ramsdell in food preserva tion; Beverly Gilbert, Marlene Nass, Gail Von Holten, Mary Ann Rhodes in bread division; Mary Lou Plock, Lois Full, Sue Rounds, Karla Rosenkraas in the dairy foods division; Janis Meyer and Beverly Gilbert in the home management divi sion; Donald King, Marlene Nass, Marty Leffelman and Mary Lou Plock in the electric award division. Those receiving State Out standing Member Certificates were: Jean Benson, Lynda Ben son, Merle Bodmer, Jr., Sue Bothe, Becky Brauer, Diane Brown, Joan Chamberlain, Marilyn Chamberlain, Tom Dempsey, Debbie Ford, Bev Gilbert, Chris Heckman, Cyn thia Hewert, Susan Hillison, Connie Hubbell, Debbie La Cousiere, Mary Lahman, Dan Leffelman, Janis Meyer, Mar lene Nass, Donnetta Petrie, Mary Roy Plock, Susan Pritch ard, Phyllis Ramsdell, Margie Salzman and Ginger Silvius. The Lee County Health Im provement Savings Bonds Awards were presented to Sue Gilbert and Joan Chamberlain, by Mrs. Burnell Hewert, Ashton. Delegates scheduled for the 1971 State Junior Conference are: Dan Leffelman, Jerry Bushman, Mary Lou Plock and Susan Hillison. Illinois Holstein Freisian As sociation awards went to: Jerry Bushman, Mike Pratt, Joan Bushman, Susan Young, Gene Henkel, Mike Burrs, Francis Fenwick, Peggy Prindaville, Ed Bushman and Sue Bulfer. Ribbons were presented to the Eldena Wonder Workers soft ball team and the Minute Maids, the first girls softball team in many years in Lee County. Marion Meyers, Cletus Fair, Carol Grossman and W. C. Kes sel were recognized as 4-H Alumni winners and each re ceived a special pin. Susan Ayers of Sub -let In dians and Sue Bothe of Eldena Wonder Workers were selected as the top 4-H Club Secretaries in the county. Members of the County Youth Committee and the staff of the Lee County Cooperative Exten sion Service presented the awards. Two 4-H members, Dan Leffelman and Merle Bodmer Jr., gave talks to the 4-H mem bers, leaders and parents as the finale to the awards program. The is slashed Larry Mosher, 620 Grant Ave., reported to Dixon Police Saturday that vandals had slashed the rear tire on his auto sometime Friday night. Offi cers are investigating.
