GWILLIMBURY MAN FINED $500 FOR SELLING LIQUOR TO SPOTTEROct. 27, in the Orillia Police Court James Sedore of West Gwiilimbury pleaded guilty before Police Magistrate Clark lo selling liquor to Provincial Officers Wright and Partridge of Toronto. He was fined $500 or six months in jail, and has commenced to, serve his term. His brother, Harold Sedore, was charged with a similar offence,• and remanded until Tuesday, when he ! pleaded not guilty. The evidence of the officers was that they had bought a gallon jar of 4‘Moonshine” from Harold Sedore on September 26, about 7 o'clock in the evening. A deposit of $5 had been made a couple of days previous, and the balance of the money, $12 in all, had been paid by i Wright when they got the crock. The defence was that the sale had been made ! by James Sedore instead of the defendant. The latter swore that he had nothing to do with the sale of liquor to Wright, who had gone into the bush with his brother and got something which he supposed was liquor. James Sedore swore that he was the one who had sold liquor on the night in question, and that he and Wright went awray together to get liquor. He had also sold “a crock” to these men in October j for $12 and was convicted of that offence. ! Another brother, George Sedore, corroborated the evidence for the defence, and the magistrate dismissed the charge against Harold Sedore, holding that doubt had been established as to the identity of the one who j had sold the liquor.—Orillia Times I- j
