Soccer action was once again fast and furious this weekend with an under 12 division game being the highlight of the day. The Raiders and the Kickers went at it tooth and nail. With only three minutes gone in the first quarter the Raiders’ Gary Smith let go a booming kick which went over the Kickers goalie making the score Raiders 1, Kickers 0. The Raiders kept pressing, however, the Kickers led by goalie Danny Crowe and defenders David O’Leary and Jason Kempf rose to the occa sion, shuting out the Raiders for the rest of the game. In the second half the Kickers found a little more of fensive firepower from for wards Michael Jacobs, Tommy Martin and Sean Evans, with Sean Evans finally knotting the game with a Kicker goal. Raider defense, led by the fine play of goalie Chris Winton and defenders Lonnie Ross and Ryan Shaw kept the Kickers at bay. The Kickers finally scored their second goal on a pass from Brian Endter to Jeremy Archuleta to Danny Finney. This game ended Kickers 2, Raiders 1. In the under six division it was Denise Middleton’s Tigers taking on Stars coached by Lin da Evans. The Stars pressed the action behind superb defense led by goalie Kane Sweat and defenders Jason Evans, Jeff Haden and Shawn Reid. Kelleigh Porter and Joshua Briant of the Stars pressed the action on the front line. Goalies Ryan Ream and Kurt Mackey along with defender Derek Evans and Megan Jacobs for the Tigers did an outstanding job of stopp ing the Stars attack. With only a few minutes left, the Tigers forward, Daniel Roshio broke away and went the length of the field with the only score of the game making it Tigers 1, Stars 0. This Saturday ends the season.
